Fellowship Opportunities

August 3rd, 2015

Softball

Salem plays in an informal co-ed church league with area churches on Friday nights throughout the summer. Both adults and youth are welcome. Youth under 14 can play if a parent is also playing.  For more information about practice and a schedule of games, check out the softball page.

Garage Sale

Salem organizes and hosts a huge garage sale for the community the weekend of Labor Day, September 3 – 5. Donations (except furniture) are collected and priced throughout the summer with large items collected starting August 30th through September 2nd. Both donations and volunteers are needed. Proceeds go to the congregation’s Mission Appeal, Joseph’s Coat and Emma Norton. For more information, contact the church office at 651-457-6661.

Knifty Knitters

Meet in the church office on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 pm and on the fourth Monday at 2:00 pm.  Depending on the time of year, the knitters work on their own projects, prayer shawls, or hats and mittens that are collected for our mitten tree in December and given to local families.

Quilters

Our quilters meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall (except June and July).  Many quilts are assembled each year and given to various local and global missions.

Men’s Breakfast

The men’s group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at Perkin’s restaurant on Robert Street for food and conversation. Led by Pastor Bill Eisenmann. See the calendar for details.

Thursday evening Bible Study

Meet on Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the Youth Room for Bible Study and conversation on a variety of topics.

Fellowship Hour

After each worship service, treats and coffee are served in the narthex — a great time to connect with others!  Volunteers are needed to bring treats and prepare the coffee.

Gourmet Gatherings

Gourmet Gatherings is a fabulous way to make new friends at Salem.  Groups of 8-9 people get together monthly for four months to enjoy a meal together in each other’s homes. The host prepares the entrée and everyone else brings an appetizer, salad, side dish, or dessert.

You don’t have to be a gourmet chef — the recipes are fairly easy to prepare! Sign up in September for the fall session, which begins in October.  You will be assigned a group by the coordinators, who make an effort to create groups with diversity.  Each group makes their own schedule.
