Stewardship – Ways To Give

November 2nd, 2013

Stewardship at Salem

The essential goal of the stewardship ministry at Salem is to help focus our hearts and our lives on the things that really matter. By growing in our faith, helping others, and being good stewards of the abundance that God has given us, we can focus on the richness of being rather than the richness of having.

Ways to Give

Gifts of Cash

Cash gifts are the most common form of giving and are as easy to make as writing a check to the Salem Lutheran Church or the Salem Lutheran Church Foundation. Every dollar you give outright is tax deductible.

Offering Envelopes

Weekly offering envelopes are a great way to combine your giving with attendance at worship services. Simply drop your gifts in the offering plate, and your personalized envelope number will assure that your contributions are properly credited. Offering envelopes can also be mailed if you can’t attend a service. And there are special envelopes for special causes, such as outreach and missions.

Email Larua@Salemluth.org if you need a supply of offering envelopes.

Simply Giving

Simply Giving, a service of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, provides a means of electronic giving to Lutheran congregations. Now you can make contributions online, on a one-time or recurring basis.

Electronic Giving is an easy, secure way to make your regular contributions to Salem.

Enrollment Form for Simply Giving
Print the Enrollment and Authorization Form at bottom of page. Complete the form and return it to Laura in the church office.

Reasons to sign up for Electronic Giving:

  • No need to write checks or bring cash      to church
  • Peace of mind knowing that the church      is receiving your contribution even if you are unable to attend
  • More secure than checks
  • Can contribute using a checking or      savings account
  • Can contribute using a credit/debit      card
  • All contributions are recorded for you      on your bank statement

Stocks and Securities

Gifts of appreciated stocks and securities can be an excellent way to share God’s gifts. There are two ways to make a donation of securities: through an electronic transfer authorization or physical delivery.

Option 1: Electronic Transfer Authorization
Your broker can electronically transfer your securities to Salem.

Option 2: Physical Delivery
If you have stock certificates, you may deliver them in person, by registered mail, or by courier to Salem’s office.

The  stock certificates must have an accompanying letter indicating your intentions. The letter must be signed by all persons named on the certificate and their signature(s) must match the name(s) as shown. Also complete a stock power document provided by Salem. Or you can fill out an Irrevocable Stock/Bond Power Form found at the bottom of this page. By gifting stock to Salem, you will avoid any capital gains tax and enjoy the tax benefits of transferred stock.

For more information about Stocks and Securities please contact Laura at 651.457.6661 or  email ?????@Salemluth.org.

Estate Gifts / Non-Endowment

An estate gift is made after the donor’s death, such as through a Will, externally – managed Trusts, retirement funds or proceeds from a life insurance policy. Estate gifts are part of plan giving, which means the donor planned to give the gift while still living. You may designate how the funds are to be used. Both principal and interest are used. For more information please go to Salem’s Endowment Fund Page.

Estate Gifts / Endowment Funds

Salem Endowment Funds enable individuals to contribute to Salem beyond their lifetimes. Any size of gift is appreciated and can be appropriated for general ministry or a number of special purposes. The moneys contributed to this fund will accrue interest, and only the interest will be distributed.

For more information please go to Salem’s Endowment Fund Page.
