URGENT MESSAGE FROM PASTOR DAVE MESAROS:
Large Indoor Gatherings and Activities Suspended Until Further Notice
God is our refuge and strength, a very present[a] help in trouble…Be Still and know that I am God! – Psalm 46
Dear Friends in Christ at Salem Lutheran,
We are living in unprecedented times for our generation with the Coronavirus. Never have we experienced the country closing down from professional athletics to schools. We believe along with Augustana Lutheran, St. Stephen’s Lutheran, and many others that we are morally obligated to do our neighborly part in reducing the spread of this virus threatening to overwhelm our health system. Evidence clearly demonstrates early quarantining significantly reduces the spread of the virus. We are concerned both for our members and others and we must do our part. We are grateful for our community of believers and I know many of you will be sad because you look forward to gathering together on a regular basis.
On the subject of communications, our emails will be sent out more often to provide the latest news at Salem. Please look for these emails every day for the coming weeks. They will provide informational updates and spiritual guides. We will post Sunday morning worship services (9:30 am), weekly messages and Thursday Prayer Services. If you have any additional questions please call (651) 457-6661 or email the office: email@example.com.
We still need your generous giving. Please consider these options for giving: Mail in your envelope to our 11 Bernard St. address (already on your pre-printed giving envelopes). Simply Giving needs no changes. Drop off your envelope at church, we have a slot on the office door on Bernard St. We will pick up the dropped envelopes every morning. I suggest you contact the church office at 651-457-6661 to confirm we received it.
Please follow the instructions for credit card and bank withdrawal options:
www.salemluth.org > Give > Make a Gift > Create Your Online Profile
Then: > Log In > Online Donation
You will receive an e-mail receipt from Vanco confirming the profile and donation.
Please pray with me these two prayers:
God, our peace and our strength, we pray for our nation and the world as we face new uncertainties around coronavirus. Protect the most vulnerable among us, especially all who are currently sick or in isolation. Grant wisdom, patience, and clarity to health care workers, especially as their work caring for others puts them at great risk. Guide us as we consider how best to prepare and respond in our families, congregations, workplaces, and communities. Give us courage to face these days not with fear but with compassion, concern, and acts of service, trusting that you abide with us always; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Gracious God, it is good for us to gather as your beloved in community. We treasure your presence with us in word and meal, song and song and prayer. Be with us in these days when gathering together as often as we would like is not possible. When we must be apart for reasons of safety, we trust that you surround us with your sheltering wings. Encourage us in connecting as we are able, reaching out to our neighbors in need and being persistent in prayer. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our constant companion. Amen.
