We are sorry for your loss.  The death of a loved one is difficult to navigate.  Between all of the plans that need to be made, the people who need to be notified and the details that need to be tended to, it can be overwhelming; it barely leaves you time to grieve.

Salem Lutheran Church is here to walk alongside and assist you as you enter into this time of loss, remembrance, and celebration of the promises God has made; the promises now fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of your loved one.

Things to know prior to the funeral or memorial service:

• Salem strongly encourages all of our families who experience the death of a loved one to make use of a professional funeral home.  They are experts attending to the needs of families during this time and will assist you in all of the details.

• Salem’s pastor will work with you to help plan the funeral service.  Pastors from other churches are welcome to be a part of the service as well.  If these guest pastors are not from an ELCA congregation, then the service will be led by a Salem pastor.  The guest pastor is welcome to assist.

• In addition to your meeting with the funeral home, the pastor will want to meet with you at least once prior to the service to confirm details and to learn more about the life of your loved one, so that we can personalize the service as much as possible.
